But black democratics have established themselves to be as corrupt as any interest group. Obama's pastor, the Oakland Black Chamber of Commerce, our disastrous City Administrator, they've all helped set expectations for what black Democratics would bring to national office: patronage, corruption, vile race-based politics of hate and ties with criminals. I don't usually vote Republican and I really loved Obama's honesty on race, but I won't vote for him. Ultimately, I don't think he will stand for truth and change, but for black politics as usual.ebmavericknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2156813738805135259.post-18603992071519443832008-03-16T00:28:22.000-07:002008-03-16T00:28:22.000-07:00I also think that race is over stated. I recently reminded him of such and his reply was that now they have one too many candidates. The point being that neither Mrs. Clinton nor Mr. Obama rings that presidential bell with the electorate. Where McCain or Romney, Giulliani or even Huckaby all appear more serious as executives. Historically, for those of you in Rio Linda, Black folks used to be mostly Republican... the party of Lincoln. That was until FDR and World War II. They left the South and wound up in the urban cores... where they could be organized into a political bloc... and made dependant on government assistance.mark rossnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2156813738805135259.post-26921300333758646522008-03-13T15:35:40.000-07:002008-03-13T15:35:40.000-07:00Interesting analysis, but I think you overestimate...Interesting analysis, but I think you overestimate the perception of Obama as the 'black' candidate - which is to say, as the candidate beholden to black interests. For starters, he certainly hasn't run his campaign that way - feuding with Al Sharpton isn't the way to court the black electorate in this country.

While it's true that a politician is going to be interested in any "90-percent-pure" demographic, he's only going to be as interested as he needs to be to hold onto it. And in that sense, Obama's race works for non-blacks - what does he really have to do for Black America to convince them to vote for him over McCain? He could probably join the Klan and still win the black vote. If I were black, I'd actually be more afraid of Obama than anyone else the Dems could put up. Why do you think Sharpton doesn't like him?SoCal Moderatenoreply@blogger.com
